Exploring and responding to objects from three countries

Cromer Juniors Day One

Almost 60 Year 6 pupils joined in with a fascinating jointly planned day focusing on an alternative identity of Cromer to the pier, beach and shops. Creative planning with the teachers developed ideas of communication, perceptions and I.T. The morning was spent exploring and responding to objects from 3 countries, drawing out how to analyse and communicate their uniqueness, with added reference material to give an understanding of the context. With this approach of challenging and portraying a culture, we went for a windy and breath taking walk to Happy Valley, concentrating on 3 images ‘which say Cromer’, then taking 3 photographs each of these images or places. The afternoon was spent making personal ‘time capsule bottles’ contained within them were representations of Cromer, made with wire, recycled materials, wools, their photographs from the morning and individually cut out characters and animals.
