Suspension hook

The main part of the hook depicts a standing female figure with her hands clasped over her lower abdomen. The head is large and mask-like, with a hooked nose, well delineated teeth and a tongue sticking out. The hook itself, at the bottom of the object, cuts the legs off at the calves, and is carved to resemble two inverted birds.

Suspension hooks are usually used to hang food and other precious items away from the ground. They are suspended from the roof timbers, and hung with bags called 'billums'
