Wind monsters and pirate ships

On Sunday 3rd October families gathered at West Runton shelter, temporarily named the West Runton weather station for the duration of ‘Coast’ , to share memories and responses to the qualities of the wind and make pennant flags to adorn the shelter. Artists Jane Frost and Liz Mcgowan have created a captivating and thoughtful project which is both very personal and collective. A written diary at the shelter is being added to daily with poems, drawings, observations and measurements and a blog site  mappingthewind.wordpress.com captures these entries and more. The diary is full of pieces in awe of the ability of the wind to be soft and gentle or wild and uncontrollable. How we and the coastal landscape relate to and are influenced by this force is a gentle and natural extension developing from this engaging project.
