Understanding similarities and differences between local and global lives

During the February half term 2010 a free drop in collaborative day was run by the two centres for thirty people. Objects from the handling collections were used to develop responses which could increase interest and understanding of similarities and differences between local and global lives, specifically looking at story telling. Children and adults held the objects, which included bee keeping and sheep shearing artefacts from M.E.A.L and masks and celebration pieces from The Sainsbury Centre. Everyone talked about their impressions and drew details from the objects, before moving on to developing these initial observations into mask making. Gillie Stapleton, a Guide from the Sainsbury Centre added to the day by holding world and local story telling sessions, which enthralled listeners.
