Techniques of making a clay mould (3/5)
During the third session the group explored the techniques and concepts of making a clay mould that would be used to make a plaster raised picture of a local setting. There was lots of visually evocative descriptions about these places and thinking through of the creation of the piece, which held negative and positive qualities. Kabir worked with the group demonstrating and explaining mark making and drawing techniques in clay. Each piece was very original, Mark's setting was a small part of the road leading to Great Yarmouth, with a windmill, which he carefully drew into the clay, talking through whether roads and rail tracks would be raised and which features would be positive. It was a fascinating and valuable session planned and led by Kabir, as it involved a lot of concepts of how landscape is formed and our relationship to it.
