The children worked together across the ages from 7-11 in a single classroom. They were fascinated by the objects from Papua New Guinea brought from the museum, which stimulated further work to examine what local connections there might be. Masks and sceptres depicting fish, dragonflies, river gods and both real and mythical creatures were made for the exhibition at Wingfield Barns with other schools in the area.
The children developed a series of artefacts and images which explored their own ideas of the countryside and looked particularly at histories and rituals to do with relationships with water.
