The primary school at Benhall has a thatched roof made of reeds. This was one of the ways children at the school could connect with ways of life in rural Papua New Guinea. In the afternoon, the children were taken on a trip to a local area of outstanding natural beauty. This, and stimulus from the museum objects, led to the making of bird masks, which were photographed in still performances at the end of the day.
